Vuk Kostic, the actor

born in Belgrade, November 22nd, 1979.

 

 

 

He is a son of a well known Yugoslav film and theatre actor Mihajlo – Pljaka Kostic, ”a trend maker” in the seventies and eighties.

 

Vuk attended ”The eleventh Belgrade high school” and started studying acting on the Belgrade faculty of drama arts, after the third grade of the high school. Graduated in June 2001.

 

As a six year old he became a member of the children’s drama studio – the only official children’s drama studio of Yugoslav television. The studio was run by Mr. Miroslav Mika Aleksic. Vuk was the member of the studio till he started the university, working for television, making numerous children’s programs and series for children.

 

As a six year old, he played in the theatre ”Studio 212”: ”St George killing the dragon” directed by Mr. Muci Draskovic, written by Mr. Dusan Kovacevic, Vuk played the role of a small boy Vane - the orphan.

 

He also played in the children’s theatre ”Bosko Buha”. The name of the play was ”Konrad” by Christine Nestlinger, directed by Zoran Ratkovic. Vuk played the leading role of Konrad – the perfect child.

 

Before finishing his studies, on the third year, he started his first movie, playing the leading role of Sasha Gordic – the junior shooting champion, directed by Srdjan Golubovic: ”The Absolute Hundred”.

 

The film was a hit in Yugoslavia and abroad, winning numerous prizes for the male leading role, directing music, screenplay etc.

 

Before graduating at the university Vuk started acting in the theatre (March, 2001) ”The game of chess” by Mr. Dusan Cvetic, directed by Mr. Jovica Pavic (”Slavia” theatre).

 

The films that followed were:

  • ”The Little Night Music” (2002 - a gross out comedy), director Dejan Zecevic, leading role: Spasoje, a male nurse in a morgue.

  • ”Life is a Miracle” (2002 - a drama), director Emir Kusturica, role: Milosh Djukic (a young soccer player)

  • ”Heart’s Affair” (2005 - a love story), director Miroslav Mika Aleksic, leading role: Aleksa

  • ”Next of Kin” (2006 - a drama), director Sinisha Kovacevic, role: Mihajlo

  • ”Ivoeva” (2005 - a French film), director Sandy Laurente, role: Ivo (an emigrant)

  • "The Trap" (2006), director Srdjan Golubovic

  • "SOS"  (2006 - a comedy), director Sijan, role: pilot
